Evolution Unfiltered is a podcast in which Evolution — the four-billion-year-old process itself — finally tells her side of the story.

Not through diagrams or simplified metaphors, but as a narrator with perspective, personality, and four billion years of evidence. This is not science education dressed up as entertainment. It is narrative storytelling grounded in scientific reality.

After centuries of being summarized, misquoted, and reduced to finch beaks, Evolution (who goes by Evi) hires a public relations firm to repair her reputation. The firm assigns Catherine Keenan, a communications professional whose first major client turns out to be a cosmic process with strong opinions about the Cambrian Explosion.

What follows is part interview, part memoir, and part correction of the historical record — and unlike any science podcast you’ve heard before.

Who You’ll Meet

Evi is Evolution herself: focused on mechanisms over morals, unimpressed by human progress narratives, and distinctly irritated by how her work has been summarized. She treats mass extinctions as “things that happened” and remains unconvinced that this should be controversial.

Catherine Keenan is the PR manager tasked with making Evi’s account intelligible to a human audience. She asks clarifying questions, pushes back when necessary, and occasionally documents her professional exasperation in diary entries.

Emergence PR is the agency representing Evolution. Their role is to frame, disclose, and contain the narrative. Their founder, Cat Yeldi, writes occasionally about what it takes to build storytelling infrastructure for clients operating on geological timescales.
